Management of Admission Process to Access Quality Teacher Education in College of Education, Zuba, Nigeria

Abstract

Teacher education is an important level of education all over the world because teachers form the bedrock of solid foundation of education at all levels. This makes it imperative for management of Teachers’ Training Colleges especially in Nigeria to ensure that they strictly adhere to the admission guideline so that individuals can properly gain admission into any Teacher Training Colleges for quality teacher education to be achieved. This being the main consideration of this paper the researcher focused on the admission process and quality teacher education in College of Education, Zuba, Abuja, Nigeria. The researchers used survey research design for the study. The population of the study was 500 students of the College. The sample of the study was 200 (two hundred) respondents sampled by random sampling procedure, mean statistics was used to analyze the research question while chi-square was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 of significance. The finding showed that there was significant relationship between process of admission into College of Education and quality teacher education. The researchers recommended that the Nigeria Government and School Managements should ensure that there is a standard guideline for screening entrants of College of Education and that the screening officers should do their work properly and conscientiously.
