EVALUATION OF INFRASTRUCTURAL CHALLENGES FOR THE PROVISION OF QUALITY TEACHING AND LEARNING IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN AHIAZU MBAISE LOCAL GOVERNMENT, IMO STATE, NIGERIA.

AbstractThis study was aimed at evaluating infrastructural challenges for the provision of quality teaching and learning in public secondary schools in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government, Imo state, Nigeria. Three (3) research questions were raised for the study. This study population was made up of one hundred and thirty four (134) female teachers and one hundred and six (106) male teachers, making a total of two hundred and forty (240) teachers.  Simple random sampling technique was used to select120 teachers representing 50 percent of the population as the sample. The instrument used was a-2points rating scale weighted as High (H) 2 points and Low (L) 1 point.  Structured questionnaire were used. In answering the three research questions, the data collected were analyzed using frequency. It was found out that the provision of infrastructure for quality teaching and learning in public secondary schools was low. Hence, it is recommended among others that government and other spirited agencies should construct and equip more public school libraries for functional teaching and learning to take place
