Abstract
This study investigated the covid-19 pandemic and the realities of teaching and learning in Africa. The sample comprised of 60 (33 male and 27 female) teacher education students drawn from five selected African countries of South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and The Gambia. Quantitative survey design was used in this study. Four research hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) and t-test for independent samples. It was found that there was no significant relationship between covid-19 pandemic and no significant gender difference on learning and no significant gender difference on teaching during covid-19 in Africa. Therefore, government and other tertiary education providers should do more by ensuring facilities and enabling environment are created to provide uninterrupted teaching and learning in schools even during pandemics.
