Abstract

Kahoot Application is a game-based Electronic Assessment tool which creates a circle that empowers learners to present and share knowledge and ideas with ease. Since learning is no longer restricted to the four walls of the classroom, assessing students manually became a challenge without the use of online assessment tools such as Kahoot game-based app.  The study was designed to assess the Perception of Undergraduates on the Efficacy of Kahoot Application as Electronic Assessment Tool at Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria on the 300 level Library and Information Science students who had participated in the use of Kahoot game app. jointly after an on-line class, The study employed a descriptive survey research design type. The population for the study comprised all the 300 level students of the department in the (2018/2019) academic session. The sample for the study comprised 146 students purposely selected for the study.  The research instrument was face validated by three different test and measurement lecturers in the faculty of Education of the university, their contributions and observations were used to modify and produce the final draft of the instrument that was administered on the undergraduates electronically via the Kahoot game app platform. 146 undergraduates participated in the study and completed the instrument, but, only 120 were found usable and were used for the study. Data collected was analyzed using a set mean value of 2.50 as “agreed”, while t-test was used to test the lone hypothesis that guided the study. The result of the study revealed that Kahoot game app was efficient and effective and there were no statistically significant differences based on the students’ gender in relation to the application’s efficiency. It was therefore recommended that, the Kahoot application. be used as on-line assessment tool on undergraduates.
